Madison families are paying more for everyday necessities, and the cost of running our city is rising, too. We need a mayor who will be fiscally responsible, make government work better, and protect taxpayers.

Property taxes aren't just a homeowner issue, they're a housing affordability issue. When property taxes keep rising, homeowners feel it directly, and renters can feel it through higher housing costs. If we're serious about making Madison more affordable, we also have to be serious about how we spend and how we fund city government.

As mayor, I will conduct a top-to-bottom review of city spending and operations to identify savings, reduce unnecessary spending, eliminate duplication, and make sure taxpayer dollars are being used effectively.

But responsible budgeting alone will not solve Madison's long-term fiscal challenges. We also need a stronger partnership with the State of Wisconsin.

​

As mayor, I will work with legislators from both parties to fight for Madison residents and make sure our city gets the best possible deal when it comes to shared revenue and other state funding opportunities. Madison is a major economic engine for Wisconsin, and our residents should receive a fair return that helps us maintain essential services without continually increasing the burden on property taxpayers.

I will also aggressively pursue federal, state, and other outside funding opportunities for infrastructure, transportation, housing, public safety, and other community priorities.

The goal is simple:

Spend smarter. Keep property taxes as low as possible. Build a broader and fairer revenue base.

​

And fiscal responsibility requires accountability. Madison residents deserve to know where their tax dollars go, what we accomplish with them, and whether our investments are delivering measurable results.

Madison deserves a government that respects every taxpayer dollar. I will work to make City Hall more efficient, keep property-tax increases as low as possible, and make sure Madison has the resources to remain a safe, affordable, and thriving city.
